My name is Daphne Tuomala. I started dancing at the age of 8 with DMC Dance. I walked into the studio for the first time with 2 broken arms and casts almost to my shoulders. I’m sure Miss Christy thought I was the most clumsy child! But they opened the studio up to me and made me feel like I was part of the family! I started out in a combo class (tap and jazz). Over the next few years I added class after class, taking every class I possibly could! I don’t know if I could pick a favorite because they all had something different that I loved. I danced for 8 years. I competed in countless competitions and received many awards. I also won a scholarship from DMC Dance for my classes. I eventually started as an apprentice helping with the mommy and me class. I worked hard and started assisting with other classes and eventually started teaching my own classes. It is an amazing feeling to see a dancer nail their first pirouette or see them light up as they hit a move or combo they have worked so hard to achieve. I loved choreographing and watching my visions come together as a dance. I also helped with shoe fittings and anything else that needed to be done.  I remember countless hours getting mailers ready or walking neighborhoods and putting door hangers on all the houses. You know, the old school way before social media!

Dance has impacted my life in many ways. I would not be the woman I am today without Christy and my dance family. Christy treats me as if I am one of her own. She taught me so much more than just dance. I have made lifelong friendships with my fellow dancers. We have grown up together, attended each other's weddings, and have been there for each other as we grow our families. I would not be where I am in my life if it wasn’t for the studio, Christy, and the amazing people that have become family along the way. I am now married with 4 beautiful daughters. This is year will be our 10-year wedding anniversary! I am a stay at home mom (although I am never home).  I volunteer at the school as a homeroom mom and help with PTO. I am also a volunteer coach for my daughter’s soccer team and basketball team. I am hoping one day my girls will have the interest in dance that I did! I am also a SeneGence distributor and have found a new love for Lipsense lipstick! I am so thankful my mom walked me into the studio that day and signed me up! I gained so much more than just the knowledge of dance. I gained a family and support system for life!
