Miss BJ began her love of dance at 2 years old at Miss Judy’s, where she fell in love with performing right away. At the age of 4 she moved to Furman Gray (later FGI School of Dance) where she danced for 14 years. She studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, Pointe, and the Cecchetti method of ballet. During her time here she attended several dance conventions, and was able to learn from world-renowned teachers and choreographers. Miss BJ won the Tremaine National scholarship and was able to spend the summer in Los Angeles taking classes everyday from some amazing teachers. BJ attended Bishop McGuinness High School and performed as the captain of the DanceVisions team.
After graduating from High School, BJ went to Oklahoma City University as a Dance Management major and became a part of the American Spirit Dance Company. After her freshman year she decided to leave OCU, and accept a performing job as a showgirl at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, France. After performing for a year she returned to Oklahoma and began teaching at FGI school of dance, not long after her return she was offered a job in Las Vegas so Miss BJ packed up and moved again.
While in Las Vegas she performed as a Showgirl in Bally’s Jubilee, a classic Vegas Review that she stayed in for 5 years. While in Las Vegas she also was a Bevertainer at the Rio, modeled for several companies such as Wedding Vendors, Paul Mitchell, and various swimsuit companies. After Jubilee, BJ performed in Fantasy at the Luxor, and was able to spend a month in Macau, China as a Showgirl for the Grand Opening of the Venetian Hotel and Casino. She also did several volunteer performances to help the community such as Ribbon of Life.
While in Las Vegas BJ met her husband Phillip who introduced her into the world of fitness, in which she has competed in several competitions and taught fitness classes such as Pilates, Yoga, and Zumba.
After 12 years in Las Vegas Miss BJ returned to Oklahoma to raise her daughter Ava and be close to her family. She is currently the Administrator of Dental Offices, but gets to share her love of dance at DMC.
